IT’S A GOULDRUSH IN YORKSHIRE

29/09/2008

For the third consecutive event Brits Adam Gould and co-driver Seb Marshall have taken class R2 honours in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship at this weekend’s at fifth round - Rally Yorkshire.

The Pirelli Star Driver nominee put in another fine display behind the wheel of his Renault Clio R2 to finish the event 12th overall and 10th BRC finisher despite starting the rally with a bout of flu.

“I was a bit shady coming into this event because I have had this cold for a few days now,” said Gould. “Fortunately the moment I got behind the wheel it was out of my mind and I felt fresh as a daisy and from the car to the pacenotes, everything gelled perfectly so we were able to establish a good lead right from the start and maintain it until the finish.”

The youngster hit the gas from the word go winning all 10 stages in the R2 class including a eighth fastest time overall on stage 5 – Gale Rig. The fine performance saw him finish over three and a half minutes faster than his closest rival.

The result comes as perfect preparation for his up and coming trip to Austria to contest the European sector of the Pirelli Star Driver program. Should Gould become one of the two European winners of the ‘Shootout’ it will see him contest no less than six rounds of the FIA Production World Rally Championship next season.
